Name; Kibeth
Gender; Female
Age; Three years old
Genus; Canis familiaris sapiens
Breed; Genetically altered Labrador Retriever
Appearance; Has black fur and the general shape of a lab. However, her forepaws are shaped much like hands.
History; The result of a genetic experiment which spliced human and dog genes, Kibeth was considered to be a great success. She learned languages quickly, and could communicate with her human handlers via sign language and writing. It is entirely possible that she could have escaped, but she believed the scientists (whom, in canine fashion, she had accepted as "pack leaders") when they told her she would likely die if she left the safety of the laboratory. She disliked being kept inside, but tried to be content with her place in life.
That is, until she and several of her littermates were taken to Tokyo in order to show her laboratory's Japanese counterpart their success firsthand.
Two nights after they arrived, unfamiliar humans broke into the kennel where Kibeth and her siblings were kept. Frightened, Kibeth fled. As far as she knows, she is the only one of her litter to do so.
Now she wanders the streets of Tokyo. She is wary of humans after her experience, but has no hate for them. She tends to keep her unusual forepaws hidden as much as possible.
Sample Post; It was night, yet the city did not sleep. Things were so different here, Kibeth reflected. At the lab, there had been a normal schedule, an order of things that was never broken. The city, in contrast, seemed chaotic. Yet perhaps there was a rhythm here too, one that Kibeth simply hadn't learned yet.
One week had passed since Kibeth's escape. Seven days. She was hungry. She hadn't had much experience with the sensation of hunger before her escape. Feedings had been a part of the laboratory order. Twice a day, every day. Here... here Kibeth had to search for it, had to peek into Dumpsters and look for scraps of food on the ground.
She could have found a human to take her in. It would have been a simple matter to find some sort of writing implement and paper to write a message. Surely some sympathetic human would have been willing to care for a dog with hands.
But she was afraid. Who knew why those humans broke into the kennel? What had become of Kibeth's littermates? Were they dead? Or worse?
For now, Kibeth would hide. Surely another stray dog in the sprawling city of Tokyo wouldn't attract much notice. At least she hoped so...
